Why drink plain water when you can make a big pitcher of Strawberry Lemon Water with Fresh Mint? This refreshing flavored water will keep you hydrated all day!

It's important to stay hydrated, especially in hot weather. I am not good at that. I find plain water very boring and need to remind myself constantly to drink some. Water is much better flavored with something in it. This refreshing beverage is very easy to make and you should always keep a pitcher in your fridge too.
If it's 6 pm on a Friday evening, I might rather be drinking a Orange Basil Cocktail or Fresh Strawberry Mojito but I save those for an occasional happy hour or Saturday evening out. During the day I'll stick with this refreshing Strawberry Lemon water or try this Citrus Cucumber Water too!
Ingredients
- Water – Fill a pitcher with fresh water.
- Lemons – Lemon slices add a citrus flavor and are a great way to boost vitamin C. Feel free to substitute other citrus slices.
- Strawberries – Hull and slice fresh strawberries.
- Mint – Fresh mint adds a refreshing flavor.
How To Make Strawberry Lemon Water
- Fill a pitcher about ¾ full with fresh water.
- Add the slices lemons, strawberries and mint leaves.
- Stir well and refrigerate for a few hours to cool the water and allow the fruit and herbs to release their flavors.
- Add ice if desired and pour into glasses to serve.
Hint: Add a bit of fruit and mint to each glass for serving.
Variations and Substitutions
- Swap the Beverage – Water is clean, refreshing and hydrating, but you can swap the water for another base beverage such as lemonade or iced tea.
- Use Sparkling Water – Sparkling water adds a nice effervescence to the drink. If using sparkling water, consume within an hour or two, or the bubbles will dissipate.
- Swap the Citrus – Instead of lemons use limes, oranges or grapefruit or a combination of citrus.
- Swap the Fruit – Replace the strawberries with raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, halved grapes or your favorite fruit.
- Swap the Herbs – Other delicious herb options include basil, lemon grass or thyme.
Tips
- Use fresh, ripe strawberries and lemons for the best flavor.
- Slice the fruit thinly to help release their flavors into the water.
- Tear the mint leaves rather than chopping them to avoid bitterness.
- Chill the water for at least an hour to allow the flavors to infuse.
- For a stronger flavor, let the water infuse in the fridge overnight.
- Serve the strawberry lemon water over ice for a refreshing touch.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of fruit and mint to suit your taste preferences.
- Use a glass pitcher to serve the water for a beautiful presentation.
- Keep a pitcher of strawberry lemon water in the fridge for a quick and refreshing drink anytime.
- Use filtered water for the best taste.
FAQs
You can use frozen fruit if fresh is not available however thawed strawberries tend to be softer and juicier. Let them thaw slightly before slicing and adding to the water. I would recommend unsweetened strawberries.
It's best to consume the water within 2-3 days for optimal flavor. After that, the fruit may start to break down and affect the taste.
I love the simple healthiness of using water, but if you prefer a sweeter drink, you can add a little honey, agave syrup, or simple syrup to taste. Add it before chilling the water so it can dissolve properly.
Serving Suggestions
Drinking this flavored water recipe is intended to feel fresh and healthy. To elevate the experience, pair this drink with light and fresh dishes, like a crisp summer salad with citrus dressing or a plate of assorted fruits and cheeses. The bright flavors of the strawberry lemon water complement these foods beautifully, making for a delightful and balanced meal or snack.

Love this idea! I often have fruit around (esp in the summer) and I always forget to just make a batch of "spa water" with it. Perfect for sitting on the back porch...or standing at a soccer tournament! 🙂 Although, for the record, I support the hairy chest hydration name. I'd chug this like it's going out of style then!!
