Air fryer frozen egg rolls are perfect for satisfying your craving for takeout. Frozen egg rolls turn out crispy on the outside and hot and juicy on the inside without needing to thaw them ahead of time. Cook frozen egg rolls in the air fryer for the perfect Asian appetizer in minutes.

I love grabbing takeout as much as anybody but cooking at home is a great way to save money, control portion sizes and get exactly what I want when I want it.

Asian Cauliflower Rice Shrimp Bowls, Mongolian Chicken Stir Fry and Scallop Fried Rice are some of my favorite Asian recipes to make at home. No one wants to miss out on the Wonton Soup or the crispy egg rolls, so I've learned how to make my own egg rolls at home too!

I've purchased store bought egg rolls before and baked them in the oven. Honestly, the results were hit or miss, but cooking them in the air fryer has been a total game changer.

Air frying egg rolls is quicker than baking or deep frying, and you still get the flavor you expect from restaurant egg rolls. It's much less mess and healthier than a deep fryer. I think it's the best way to cook egg rolls at home. It's an easy way to perfect crunchy egg rolls. I serve these egg rolls with an Asian Cucumber Salad and dinner is fun and quick!

Plus, egg rolls make a quick snack, perfect appetizer or great side dish. Cook up a few for a quick lunch or an easy meal the whole family will love. I like to do a few different varieties like vegetable egg rolls for my vegetarian daughter, pork egg rolls for my husband and shrimp egg rolls for me. This guide will show you how to get the best results when air frying any type of egg rolls.

    Ingredients

Packages of frozen egg rolls with an air fryer in the background.
    • Frozen Egg Rolls – Choose your favorite flavor and favorite brand of frozen egg rolls.

How To Cook Frozen Egg Rolls or Spring Rolls

    1. Place egg rolls in the bottom of the air fryer basket or rack in a single layer. Cook for 12 minutes or until the outside of the egg rolls are crispy and golden.

    2. Serve air fryer frozen egg rolls with your favorite dipping sauces.

Hint: Turn the egg rolls halfway through the cook time for crispy texture and even browning on all sides.

See printable recipe card below for complete instructions and exact quantities.

Dipping Sauces for Air Fryer Egg Rolls

You can use homemade or store bought dipping sauces. Look for orange sauce or duck sauce, sweet and sour sauce, Thai sweet chili sauce, plum sauce, soy sauce, Yum Yum or your favorite dipping sauce in the Asian section of your local store. If you prefer, these homemade sauces are some of my favorites:

    • Homemade Bang Bang Sauce
    • Egg Roll Dipping Sauce from Buns In My Oven
    • Homemade Duck Sauce from Simple Seasonal

    Equipment

Air Fryer – Many different brands, sizes and styles of air fryers are available. Here is a guide to some of the best air fryers according to food experts. Air fryers each cook differently, so cooking times should be used as a guide. Check your air fryer's manual to determine if preheating is necessary.

    Storage

Air fryer frozen egg rolls are best served right away, so I usually only prepare what I know we will eat. If you have leftover egg rolls, they can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 3-4 minutes or until heated through.

Once you have cooked the egg rolls, I don't recommend refreezing them.

    Top Air Frying Tips

    • Place the air fryer egg rolls in a single layer leaving plenty of space for the air to circulate.
    • Use the cooking time in the recipe card as a guide, as all air fryers heat differently. Preheat air fryer if necessary.
    • Keep an eye on cooking time as different size egg rolls will take different times.

    FAQs

Should egg rolls be defrosted before cooking?

There is no need to defrost frozen egg rolls before cooking. Add frozen egg rolls directly to the air fryer.

How long do I cook frozen egg rolls in an air fryer?

Air fryer frozen egg rolls will cook through in about 12 minutes at 350 degrees F. You should start checking for doneness after about 8 minutes.

What's the difference between egg rolls and spring rolls?

Egg rolls are wrapped in flour-based wonton wrappers and spring rolls are wrapped in thin sheets of rice paper. The fillings for both egg rolls and spring rolls are often similar.

Can I cook mini egg rolls in the air fryer?

Yes! Since mini egg rolls are smaller than traditional egg rolls they will cook faster. You can cook them in about 5 to 7 minutes.

Can I cook more or less than 4 eggrolls at a time?

If your air fryer model has a large basket you may be able to cook more than 4 egg rolls at a time. Be sure to leave space between the egg rolls for the air to circulate. You can cook egg rolls in batches.

Cooking the egg rolls in the air fryer changes everything. They turned out crispy like in a restaurant. I had never reached this consistency when baked in the oven. Thanks

Please do not recommend using “cooking spray” in air fryers! This will hurt the coating! My air fryer as well as others specifically say “do not use cooking spray”!!
Need to use oil spray. Not cooking spray! I’ve ruined non-stick pans using cooking spray and do not want to ruin my new air fryer! Oil! Cooking spray oil only for air fryers! Olive, vegetable, any oil!

        Ann,
You are correct. In the notes I did put the oil or cooking spray recommended by your air fryer manufacturer which means some that are the pump and not the aerosol. But I remade the rec ipe without any oil and it was just as crunchy so i am updating it without any oil spray becuase it really isn't needed.
        Thanks,
        Lisa
