Jersey Girl Drinks

While at the shore last week, we had a few cocktails. We were staying with another family which are good friends of ours. When the children went to bed, the adults had some drinks on the deck. We also played quite a few games of Scattergories. I bought a few of these cocktail buckets, not knowing whether there would be a blender at the beach house we stayed at. There was a blender but no need to use it as these drinks were awesome. When it comes to frozen drinks, I am not a snob. I do not need fresh berries and homemade simple syrup to like a frozen drink. These were cosmojitos which was a cross between a cosmopolitan and mojito. We decided to use vodka instead of the rum they suggested and we loved them this way! They were so easy to make. You mix the powder, water and vodka in the bucket and freeze for 8 hours. As you can see they are quite slushy.

I bought my buckets at the Christmas Tree Shop but I’m sure you can find them at places like Target. There are so many flavors to choose from. I have a Pomegranate martini one in my pantry. I think I’m also starting to sound like a frozen drink bucket salesman!

This is definitely more of a girlie drink. The guys did try them and liked them, however Makers Mark and 7 up was their drink of choice.

I just read your favorite books and I love all of those books too! You should try the next book from the Author of A Thousand Splendid Suns. I read the Kite Runner first and then found A Thousand Splendid Suns. I love the way he described the food of Iraq, it was so colorful I could almost taste it!

I’ve never tried a Cosmojito but I want to now! What a perfect drink for sitting on a deck playing games with friends! How fun!!

Your pie on the post below looks SO good! I am not usually a pie girl – mostly because I’ve only tried once to make a pie and it flopped. I love to bake, though – mostly cakes and cookies. 🙂

My grandparents used to live in Jersey so when we were kids we’d make the trip from OK to NJ and hang out on the shore. VERY different than over here in the Pacific Northwest where it’s rocky and the water is cold. I have some great memories from my childhood at my grandparents house in NJ!

I love voddy. Don’t have cocktails often but when I do they have to have vodka in them. I usually just drink vodka with cranberry juice, when Im not drinking wine that is!

Well, i enjoy a good cosmo and i love mojitos, so I think I need to try these before summer is up. It looks like the kind of drink that is perfect to share with friends.

You’ve sold me on the frozen drink bucket! I must have one…now! Can I buy one from you?!

I like cosmos and mojitos. I’ve never tried Maker’s Mark and 7Up.

How fun! I’m in love with The Christmas Tree Shops. We don’t have those in California!!

I featured something on my blog today made with Jersey blueberries 🙂

Cosmos make me feeling really glamorous even if I’m wearing sweats. I blame Sex in the City, of course. I’m drooling over your pie 🙂

Aren’t the drinks on the porch one of the best parts of the Jersey Shore? I can’t wait for our trip back next year.

Sharon July 31, 2008 at 12:53 pm

Memories of the Jersey Shore, there’s nothing like it! My family always went to Manasquan….

Hey Lisa,
Your “Jersey Girl” drinks would’ve gone well with my “Jersey Girl” potato salad at the tailgate party! Wish I would’ve seen that earlier!
