Welcome to the Jersey Girl’s Kitchen!

Hello and thank you for stopping by my NJ kitchen. My name is Lisa and I have a passion for cooking. I came from a large ethnic family with Italian and Croatian influences. Food was always a big part of our family celebrations. While growing up, money was tight in our family but there was always good food on the table. A meal doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive to be delicious. Whether you’re with family or friends, a meal is a great way to bring people together.

I love creating my own recipes and have been doing so ever since I can remember. Instead of following recipes, I like to read cookbooks and get ideas to eventually make things my own. I don’t mind cooking on the spur of a moment and most nights I can get dinner on the table for my husband and two children in 30 minutes.

I started this blog in 2008. At the time I was a stay at home mom that had left the corporate world. I needed something more than “being a mommy” and I also wanted to start recording my recipes. This turned out to be a great vessel to do both. Since then, food blogging has opened up a whole new world for me. I now also work part time in social media and take on many freelance writing projects.  I have met so many great people and I have been to so many new places because of it.

The journey doesn’t stop here. I have many new recipes to try, new places to see and more people to meet. I love getting feedback or questions from my readers.  You can always email me at jerseygirlcooks (at) Comcast (dot) net. I would love to hear from you!

Hi Lisa,

How are you? I just wanted to introduce myself! My name is Nicole and I recently launched a blog titled http://www.nibblesbynic.com. In a nutshell I have created a fun spin on recipes for the everyday mom. My goal is not to over-complicate the food, but to simplify it in a homemade, yet youthful fashion using seasonal tasty ingredients. Most importantly, my mantra is to cook in healthful way (incorporating the occasional treat of course :-) without EVER sacrificing taste and enjoying every last nibble!!

I have to say your blog is super inspirational. I love your antics and playfulness with the recipes. Your food looks amazing and you present it
in such a beautiful way. BTW – I am also from New Jersey, but wound up in Long Island, a place I swore I would never go to, but so far so good!!!

Congrats on Dr. Oz. That is so exciting!!!

Love to keep in touch.
Thanks and have a wonderful night :-)

Warmest,

Nicole

Hi Lisa, met you at Phillipps restaurant on Saturday for the cooking class. How did you like the class? What was your opinion of the food? Just checking in to see your opinions were about the cooking class?

Love your blog! I was pleasantly surprised when I read about your Croatian background. I’m from Croatia, just moved to NJ. In my humble opinion…italian, croatian…can’t go wrong with that :)
Looking forward to your recipes!
Adriana
