Antipasto skewers are fun and simple pinwheel appetizers that are perfect for serving on game day or at any party or gathering. You and your guests will love this antipasto on a stick.

    antipasto skewers on a plate

Ask me what food I can't live without and I wouldn't even have to think about it. It's cheese all the way. Think about all the yummy things you can do with cheese.

When my kids were in high school, our household went through several pounds a week. We would have it on pasta, salads, sandwiches and pizza.

My favorite way to eat cheese is on an antipasto platter. Antipasto platters are great but sometimes I need something a little more portable for serving guests. I decided to make antipasto on a stick and these pinwheel appetizers are flavorful and fun.

I love these meat and cheese antipasto skewers because you get a bite of everything. The pinwheels are paired with black olives, tomatoes and basil but the possibilities are endless.

    Ingredients Needed for Antipasto Skewers

    • Meat - I used Genoa salami and ham. You could use any Italian salami and prosciutto, salami, pepperoni, coppa, capicola and sopressata all make great substitution.
    • Cheese - Slices of Land O Lakes® 4 Cheese Italian Blend are rolled inside of the meat for easy preparation. Mozzarella pearls would also be a nice touch.
    • Olives - Pitted black olive are flavoful. For variation, you could use stuffed olives, pickled cherry peppers or marinated mushrooms.
    • Tomaotes - Look for bite-sized cherry or grape tomatoes.
    • Basil - Fresh basil leaves give this antipasto on a stick that quintessential Italian flavor.
    • Balsamic Galze - Thick sweet balsamic glaze is perfect for drizzling over the finished pinwheel appetizers. You can also use a balsamic dressing.

How to Make These Pinwheel Appetizers

    1. Layer 2 slices of salami, one slice of ham and 2 slices of cheese on top of each other. Roll in jelly roll fashion very tightly. Trim the ends and cut into three neat pinwheels. Repeat with remaining salami, ham and cheese so you have 12 pinwheels.
    2. On toothpicks, alternate olives, pinwheels, tomatoes and basil leaves to make 12 skewers.
    3. Place on a plate and drizzle with balsamic glaze or dressing.

When we entertain outside I like to make a bunch of sangria and divide it into sealed mason jars ahead of time. It's a cute presentation and there's not an open jug for flies to get into!
