I love easy appetizers and there is a good reason these air fryer pasta chips went viral on TikTok. Made with leftover pasta, you get a tasty appetizer or fun snack in just a few minutes. How simple is that?
Cooked pasta is tossed with a tasty Italian seasoning blend, and the noodles are air fried until they are crispy and crunchy, just like your favorite potato chips. Add a side of marinara or alfredo sauce for a dippable, comforting snack everyone will love. This easy recipe is made with simple ingredients and is a perfect snack for movie night or game day.
Ingredients
- Pasta Noodles – Use your favorite pasta shape, but ones with a larger surface area, such as Farfalle, are easier to pick up and ideal for dipping.
- Olive Oil – I love a bit of olive oil but you can use any light neutral-flavored oil that you prefer for this air fryer pasta chips recipe.
- Cheese – Use freshly shredded parmesan cheese.
- Seasoning – Season with Italian seasoning and kosher or sea salt. I also will add a dash of garlic powder or onion powder and black pepper if I want the air-fried pasta chips a little more seasoned.
- Italian Sauce – Serve with pasta sauce, marinara sauce or pizza sauce for dipping.

How To Make Air Fryer Pasta Chips
- Cook pasta noodles according to package instructions in a large pot of salted water. Drain well in a colander. Preheat air fryer if necessary to 375 degrees.
2. In a large bowl mix together drained pasta, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, seasoning and salt. Toss so that the pasta is well coated.
3. Place pasta in a single layer in the air fryer. Cook for 15 minutes or until pasta is crispy and golden brown.
4. Remove pasta and serve with your favorite sauce.
Hint: Cook the pasta to al dente so it doesn't fall apart while seasoning.
Variations/ Substitutions
- Pasta - I like to use farfalle pasta (also called bowtie pasta) but you can experiment with another type of pasta noodles like rigatoni pasta or penne pasta.
- Sweet - Instead of using cheese and Italian seasoning, coat the pasta with oil, cinnamon and sugar to serve as a dessert.
- Gluten Free - Use gluten-free pasta if preferred. The texture of course will be a bit different.
Cooking Tips
- Preheat your air fryer for the best results.
- Air fryer temperatures can vary slightly between brands, so use the provided cooking times as a guide.
- Cook pasta al dente for the best results, don't overcook. Cook the pasta 1 minute less than recommended.
- Cook the pasta up to 2-3 days in advance and store it in the fridge. Toss the cooked pasta with a small amount of oil to prevent it from sticking together. Rinse and drain the pasta before continuing with the recipe.
- Use leftover pasta.
- Don’t crowd the air fryer basket. The pasta should be in a single layer. Cook in batches if needed.
- Shake the air fryer basket a few times while the pasta chips cook.

Yes! If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake pasta chips in the oven. Spread the seasoned pasta onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees F. Toss the pasta several times to get the chips crispy on all sides.
