I absolutely love ordering fries when I go out to eat, but there's always that moment when I’m left with a container of cold, soggy fries. I used to stress about how to reheat leftover fries without ending up with a greasy mess. I didn’t want to waste food, but I also wasn’t willing to settle for limp, oily leftovers. It was a dilemma I faced time and time again—until I found a solution!

After experimenting with different methods, I discovered two foolproof ways to reheat fries that leave them crispy and fresh every time. Whether you opt for the air fryer or the oven, both methods are simple, quick, and effective. Now I can enjoy my fries the next day without worrying about wasting them or settling for a soggy snack.

French fries, even reheated french fries, deserve a delicious dip. Here are a few of my favorites:

Reheating Fries in the Air Fryer

The air fryer method is by far my favorite method for reheating french fries—it's quick and results in that perfect crispy texture. I always preheat my air fryer to 350 degrees, which ensures the fries cook evenly and get that golden crunch. The key is to arrange the fries in a single layer on the rack or basket to allow for maximum air circulation.

This method heats the fries in just a few minutes, making them hot and crispy without any of the sogginess you might get with other methods. It’s the perfect way to enjoy your leftover fries just like they’re fresh out of the fryer!

How to Reheat French Fries in the Oven

The oven method is another great option for reheating fries, especially if you don't have an air fryer on hand. Start by preheating your oven to 425 degrees, which helps get the fries nice and crispy. Arrange the fries in a single layer on a shallow baking sheet—this allows them to cook evenly and prevents them from getting too soggy. It only takes a cooking time of about 5 to 10 minutes to reheat them, and flipping the fries halfway through ensures they crisp up on all sides.

This method works wonderfully for anyone who wants that crispy texture without needing any extra equipment and is great if you have a lot of fries to reheat.

    Storing Leftover French Fries

Store your leftover fries in an airtight bag or container as soon as possible to keep them fresh. This helps lock in the flavor and prevents them from getting too dry or soggy. Be sure to let them cool down completely before sealing them up to avoid moisture buildup inside the container. It's important to note that you should only reheat your fries once to maintain their texture and taste—repeated reheating can cause them to lose their crispiness and become chewy. By following these simple storage tips, you can enjoy your fries the next day without sacrificing quality!

    Top Tips

    • Always preheat the oven or air fryer.
    • To keep fries crispy, only reheat them once. Repeated reheating can make them chewy and less appetizing.
    • When reheating, avoid adding more oil, as fries have enough from their initial cooking and adding extra can make them greasy.

    FAQ

Can you reheat fries in the microwave?

While you can use the microwave, it won’t give you that crispy texture. Fries reheated in the microwave tend to become soft and soggy, so it’s best to use an oven or air fryer for the crispiest results.

How long can I store leftover fries?

Leftover fries can be stored in the fridge for up to 2-3 days. After that, they may start losing their flavor and texture.

    Can I freeze leftover fries?

Yes, you can freeze leftover fries! Just make sure they’re cooled down and stored in a freezer-safe bag or container. Reheat from frozen following your favorite method.

These are my favorite things to serve them with:

    • Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken Sandwiches
    • Classic Corned Beef Reuben Sandwich
    • One Pan Mushroom Swiss Burgers
    • Perfect Grilled Steak

How to Reheat French Fries (Air Fryer and Oven Method)

Reheat French Fries in your air fryer or oven to make leftover fries crispy and fresh again.
    Prep Time10 minutes mins
    Course: Side Dish
    Cuisine: American

    Equipment

    • 1 air fryer

    Instructions

    • Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees.
    • Arrange French fries in a single layer on your rack or air fryer basket. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until fries are hot and crispy.
    • Salt fries if necessary and serve immediately with ketchup or dipping sauces.

    Notes

Try not to crowd the fries in your air fryer basket. If it is fairly full, shake or turn once in between cooking the fries.
Oven Reheating Method : Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Add fries to a baking sheet and heat in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes, flipping them once halfway between cooking.
Do not add any extra oil to the fries as they do not need any and that would make this greasy.
