    Ingredients

Ingredients needed for this christmas food craft idea.
    • Pretzel Rods – These will be the base of your wreath, providing a crunchy and salty contrast to the sweet toppings. Look for the thick pretzel rods.
    • Frosting – Creamy frosting serves as the glue that holds everything together. You can choose between classic vanilla or add a tangy twist with cream cheese frosting, depending on your preference. Premade storebought frosting in a can is quick and easy.
    • Sprinkles – This is where the festive magic happens! Green sprinkles not only add a pop of Christmas color but also contribute a sweet and decorative touch to your pretzel wreath. You can use green sprinkles or sugar.

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

    Dip pretzel rods in frosting.

Break pretzel rods in half and dip the broken end into the frosting and the sprinkles.

    Decorated holiday treat with pretzels.

Arrange the decorated pretzels into a wreath shape. Decorate with a bow.

Hint: Dip the broken end of the pretzels to keep the center of the wreath clean and pretty.

    Variations / Substitutions

    • White Chocolate - If you prefer, you can melt white chocolate wafers and dip the pretzels into the chocolate before dipping into the sprinkles.
    • Regular Pretzels - You can use traditional pretzel twists and arrange in smaller circles to make several mini wreath shapes.
    • Red Candies - Place a red candy coated chocolate on each pretzel rod for additional decoration.
    • Different Holidays – Prepare with different colored sprinkles for different holidays such as blue for Hannukah, orange for Halloween, gold for New Year's Eve, etc.

    Storage

The pretzel wreath is best made the day you are serving. If you have leftovers, you cover the platter with foil however the pretzels will start to become soggy from the frosting.

    Top Tips

    1. Before dipping your pretzel rods, give your frosting a quick melt in the microwave. This will make it easier to coat the pretzels evenly and create a smooth, glossy finish.
    2. Set up a little production line with your pretzel rods, melted frosting, and a plate of green sugar or sprinkles. This helps streamline the process and prevents the frosting from drying before you get to the decorating stage.
    3. When dipping the pretzel rods in frosting, give them a little twirl to ensure an even coating. This way, you get that perfect balance of sweet and salty in every bite of this Christmas treat.
    4. After dipping, gently tap the pretzel rods against the edge of the bowl to remove any excess frosting. This prevents your wreath from becoming overly gooey and helps the decorations stick better.
    5. Don't be shy with the green sugar or sprinkles! While the frosting is still soft, generously sprinkle the decorations onto the pretzels. Work quickly, so they adhere before the frosting sets.
    6. Feel free to add extra festive flair! Consider incorporating red sugar or edible pearls for ornaments, or even tiny ribbon bows. Let your imagination run wild!

    FAQ

Can I make this with other types of pretzels?

While pretzel rods work well for their shape, you can experiment with other pretzel varieties. Just keep in mind that the size and thickness may affect the overall look of your wreath.

How do I prevent the pretzels from becoming soggy?

Tap off excess frosting after dipping and prepare on the same day you will be serving.
