Thank you to Morey's Piers in Wildwood, NJ for hosting my visit. As usual, all opinions are my own and I only write about things I love.
The Jersey Shore has a special place in my heart. As a kid, I loved everything about it especially since my grandparents lived near the shore. Walking down the boardwalk with the bright lights from the rides; the smell of salt water, French fries, pizza and fudge was all part of great summer memories. I still love it as this never gets old. There is something at Morey's Piers in Wildwood for every age group and it is really a great family destination.
Morey's has been around for over 50 years. It is family owned and operated, includes 3 amusement piers, 2 waterparks, various hotels and restaurants. Everything about it is fun, fun, fun! Kids of all ages love it and adults love it because it makes you feel young and like a kid again. I know this sounds like a bit of a cliché but I really do love the childhood memories and flashbacks I get from the smells, sights and sounds of spending a day at Morey's. Adults want to have fun too!
The Arcades!!
Recently my husband and I spent 24 hours at Morey's Piers. There was so much to do for the two big kids and I vow to come back some other time this summer with my teenagers. There are rides, games, water slides, good food and arcades. It rained for part of our visit but there is still so many places to have fun even if the weather isn't ideal.
I'm no longer a kid but I still like the arcades and skee ball. It might be the only game I can beat my husband in...haha! If you go into the arcades at Morey's Piers, you'll notice that the kids are not the only ones having fun. The adults might not always admit it but they have plenty of fun too. I did see several toddlers sleeping in their strollers and the parents right next to them playing some pinball. The arcade is for everyone and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Jersey Girl Restaurant for Dining!!
While people don't always think of the boardwalk as a fine dining destination, let me tell you that's not true. Everyone thinks of great fried food, pizza and ice cream but there are also some great dinner restaurants in Wildwood. We ate at Jersey Girl restaurant which is also owned by Morey's Piers in Wildwood. I am still dreaming about the dinner we had. It was right next to our hotel, Blue Palms, so it was a great location to take a walk after dinner. It is run by executive chef Argie Mallous and his brother George. They have lots of experience in the restaurant industry.
The food is an American menu with Greek and Mediterranean touches. The cocktails are very innovative. We tried the Jumbo Jet which was a combination of Bourbon, blackberry puree, mint and lemonade. It's pretty too!
I ordered the Grilled Swordfish which just melted in my mouth. It was served with asparagus, mashed potatoes and topped with a veal demi glace and beautiful peppers. My husband had the Scallops and Pork Belly which worked so good together. Both dishes were creative, delicious and beautifully arranged. Many of the cocktails on the menu are named after some of the pier rides. So fun! If you are at the Jersey shore, I definitely recommend trying this restaurant. Reservations can be made in advance as they get busy even on the week nights.
PigDog Beach Bar
The PigDog Beach Bar is one of Morey's newest dining ventures. I love this place! It's both family and dog-friendly, open all day and located right on the beach behind the water park. Creative cocktails and delcious BBQ are served here. We tried the Big Pig, which is their signature item. It's a sourdough loaf stuffed with smoked pulled pork and covered in melted cheese. I earned big points with the husband by ordering this! I also wanted something on the lighter side and had their Grilled Summer Shrimp Salad. It was so fresh with a mango pineapple vinaigrette dressing. There was a guitar player there for some great music that afternoon. The view of the beach is a bonus too.
I love boardwalk food!
Pizza from Jumbos, Curley's fries and lemonade, hot dogs, and funnel cakes are some of the other food you can enjoy at the amusement piers. This is the typical food I have enjoyed at Morey's since I was a kid. There is something about eating this food in the salt air.
Wilhelm's Bier Garten is another newcomer to Morey's Piers this summer. The rain put a damper on our lunch visit but we will be back before summer's end so follow me on Instagram and Twitter to get a glimpse of some German food and beer which I hear is outstanding.
Community Fun In Wildwood
I love how Morey's Piers gets involved in their community. They have special events like educator appreciation day, fall beach jam for scouts, special sporting events and festivals.
For three weekends in the fall, Morey's Piers in Wildwood hosts OKTOBERFEST which includes special German themed menus, an outdoor “biergarten,” live entertainment, a kids “Rootbier Garten” activity area and so much more. This year the festivities will take place at Mariner’s Pier for three consecutive weekends: September 21-23; September 28-30; and October 5-7.
After Labor Day, Mariner’s Pier is open Friday-Sunday until October 7. The hotels are also open for the festival weekends. I love the Jersey shore in September and early October. Morey's Piers in Wildwood is a great place to be at this time of year. The weather is a bit cooler, the crowd is a little smaller but there is still plenty of fun to be had.

Was the cheese good on the Big Pig? I would love to try this out. I have a pulled pork addiction.
