The Philly Vendy Awards

Have you ever gone to the Philly Vendy Awards? It's a fun delicious day honoring some of the best food trucks in Philadelphia. I love the food truck concept. As a kid, I refused to eat hot dogs from a supermarket package but loved getting a Sabrett hot dog from a street cart. Then I went to college and enjoyed late night food from Rutger's "grease trucks".   They were known for serving fat sandwiches with all kinds of things in the middle. Burgers topped with chicken fingers, French fries, and mozzarella sticks were not uncommon. Who doesn't like some extra grease at 2am after visiting the college bars?

But as a grown up, I love how cities have food trucks that serve all kinds of gourmet food.  This coming, I will be feasting on some of the best street food in Philadelphia. I am headed to the Philadelphia Vendy Awards. Fourteen trucks will be competing for titles. There are three awards: the Vendy Cup, Rookie od the Year and Best Dessert.

Not only will I get to try fabulous food but there will also be live music and great beer and ciders to try.  The best part is that this event is a fundraiser and the proceeds go to the Food Trust. You can still purchase tickets online if you would like to go. Tickets cost $55 and the event will be held at Penn Treaty Park.  It's going to be one great day!
