This sweet and salty snack mix is a festive treat for Halloween or Thanksgiving. Make a big batch of this fall snack mix recipe and enjoy it all week!

sweet and salty snack mix recipe

I am not much of a fall house decorator. I wish I had a better eye for house decor but instead of using my time to decorate I'd rather make festive treats. So I came up with this recipe for a fall snack mix that is perfect for autumn.

This fall treat contains only 7 ingredients and can literally be mixed together in 5 minutes. Just mix everything in a big bowl and you are done. No baking, no messy bowls and no stress!

What ingredients are needed for this Fall Snack Mix?

    • salted pretzels
    • Reeses Pieces
    • chocolate chips
    • crispy rice cereal
    • salted peanuts
    • candy corn
    • fall harvest candy
    ingredients for recipe

    Can you substitute ingredients ?

Yes, of course! Feel free to mix and match other types of cereal, baking chips, nuts and candy. If you'd like a peanut free mix, you can always omit the peanuts and use m&m's instead of the Reeses pieces.

You could easily turn this into a Christmas holiday snack mix recipe by using another candy or holiday themed m&m's. This is such an easy versatile recipe because you can make it however you'd like.

    Substitution suggestions:

    • roasted almonds or other nuts
    • butterscotch chips or other chips such as cinnamon, white chocolate or caramel
    • toasted coconut
    • raisins
    • animal crackers or another mini cookie
    • toffee bits
    • Chex Mix
    • Cheerios or another cereal

    The possibilities are endless!

How do you store the leftovers?

I keep my sweet and salty snack mix in a big airtight container and serve it in small bowls. I also make individual snack bags of this fall snack mix to add to packed lunches or for portion control. Yes, I could eat the whole bowl!

It is also a good idea to pack individual bags to serve at an outdoor party. With the pandemic, many people are having outside gatherings and this is a good way to distribute individual snacks.

I'd never thought to have a mix of sweet and salty together for something like this, but what a crazily good idea. I love sweet and salty together and I know I'm not the only one. I think I'm going to try something like this for Christmas.

I love this!! And the individually packed treat bags were the BEST idea. I'm planning on handing them out to our neighbours for Halloween.
