Making holiday dinners easy is not hard to do. Follow these tips and there will be no worries. Only a great dinner!
Thanksgiving is in a few days and more holidays are right around the corner. I personally love cooking up a big dinner if I have the time to do it. Today I am starting my sides by making some fresh cranberry sauce and roasting turkey wings along with veggies to make homemade gravy. As much as I love to cook, there have been times when it just didn't fit the schedule.
My husband and I have our wedding anniversary this year on Thanksgiving. Way back when we were about to get married, my husband and I ate Thanksgiving dinner in a NJ diner. I remember our exact plates. I had a plate of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy while he ate ham with mashed potatoes and gravy. It seemed strange not be around a big table with family and friends but we enjoyed our quiet little Thanksgiving. We were getting married that Saturday and everyone was arriving the next day for the start of the wedding festivities.
My son was also born around Thanksgiving as this year his birthday is the day after. That was another year I did not cook dinner. There are always those times that you need something simple or even store bought.
Last month, I was invited to a holiday tasting experience at Whole Foods. It was wonderful. It gave me plenty of good holiday ideas but they also have already prepared food if you don't want to cook or something tasty to bring to a party. I know there is still time to order a cooked Thanksgiving dinner at some of their locations. And it is so easy to do online. I vouch for the turkey and all the sides that they make. They were as good as any home cooked meal!
One of the first things I tried was a delicious cocktail of Root and ginger beer. The Root was a liquor that tasted very much like root beer and it was great mixed with the ginger beer which was a really spiced version of gingerale. So good! I definitely think this cocktail will show up at my house for the holidays.
They also have a great choice of easy appetizers to serve at home or bring to a party. I love having a cheese and olive tray to start off my dinner and often Whole Foods is where I will get some of my selections from. They offer fresh seafood too and the shrimp cocktail tray was outstanding! I love their selection for making holiday dinners easy.
Tomorrow we are going to cook our turkey on the grill. The weather is supposed to be nice and it will be perfect to get some exercise and burn off some calories before the big feast. If you need last minutes recipes, check out these great holiday ones perfect for Thanksgiving.
Hope everyone has a really nice blessed Thanksgiving!
