If you haven't tried desserts from the Grand Lux Cafe, you need to! Read on!
Today is National Dessert Day and I am going to make you crave something sweet. Last week I was invited to sample some desserts from Grand Lux Cafe and believe me, it was a very sweet evening.
First, the wonderful people at Grand Lux Cafe treated us to a cocktail and some appetizers. While I could always eat dessert for dinner, I am always happy to have a cocktail and something savory first. The Asian Pear Martini was the perfect cocktail for fall. Then we continued to sample their Ahi Cerviche, Asian Nachos, and Buffalo Chicken Bites.
Next, their chef had an interactive demonstration making their Warm Sticky Bun Bread Pudding right in front of our eyes. It was just a heavenly dessert. I was lucky to get a copy of the recipe because you bet I will be making this during the holidays. It is a decadent dessert and perfect with the freshly whipped cream, sugared pecans and whiskey sauce. It just screams special!
What type of desserts are on the Grand Lux Cafe menu?
We sampled some key lime pie, chocolate molten cake, warm butter cake with ice cream and strawberries, and warm apple pie. Am I making you hungry yet? I am sure you are thinking about a nice glass of cold milk by now to go with all these scrumptious desserts. Actually, I had a lovely decaf cappuccino at Grand Lux Cafe which complimented all the desserts.
While all these scrumptious desserts had my mouth watering, this last one might be my favorite. The New Orleans Beignets are hot and made to order. They come with a trio of sauces and covered in powdered sugar. They are crispy, light and so good that I can eat the whole basket myself. As if all this wasn't enough, Grand Lux Cafe also sent us home with a box of their Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookies. This treat made the husband and teenage son in my house very happy. While I occasionally bake things like rustic apple tarts and Sweet Ricotta Pie, I love when someone else makes treats for me. Today I hit the jackpot!
All the desserts are made to order so be prepared to wait a bit. Or they will take your dessert order when you order dinner so its ready at the perfect time. I like to stop by for a cocktail or cup of coffee and leisurely wait for my dessert.
Forget the calories today! They don't count on National Dessert Day! Go get a piece of warm butter cake, some beignets or some crispy but chewy chocolate chip cookies. Have a great weekend too!

Fun to see a blog post from you! I met Shelby in August and told her I hadn't seen anything from you for a while. And the reason that is okay is because I haven't blogged since July and was feeling really guilty about it. But hiatuses are good! Hoping to get back in time for a few yummy things for the holidays. 😉
