Cookie Cookbook Review : The Daily Cookie

First Published: February 25, 2013 . Last Modified: October 19, 2022 lisa12 Comments This post may contain affiliate links

The Daily Cookie is an excellent cookbook containing 365 cookie recipes.  Read more about my cookbook review and the author, Anna Ginsberg who also writes the blog, Cookie Madness.

cookbook cookieDid you know today is Chocolate Covered Nuts Day?  I didn't either  until I used my new cookbook, The Daily Cookie: 365 Tempting Treats For the Sweetest Year of Your Life.

I guarantee that once you own this cookbook, you will never need to buy another cookbook on cookies. This book gives you recipes for every occasion plus tips on ingredients, baking equipment and the baking process.

Anna Ginsberg, self taught cook and author of  The Daily Cookie,  is a cookie genius!  She is also author of the blog, Cookie Madness as well as winner of the 42nd Pillsbury bake-off and other major recipe contests. When I have a cookie baking dilemma, she is simply my go to girl.

I love the little tidbits in this cookbook. Each recipe comes with a fact or anecdote about the cookie that is fun to read.  It's a book that is perfect when you want to bake with your kids because there are plenty of simple recipes but also plenty of things to talk about.

There is a photo of each cookie for every recipe. I am a visual person and love to see what the cookie should look like.  Sometimes pictures in cookbooks intimidate me because I know I could never make something so fancy. These pictures are simple and real life. Looking at them makes me want to go on a baking spree and bake cookies for all my neighbors.

I am gradually working my way through the cookbook and my whole family has many favorites. Among them are  Hidden Happiness Cookies, One Bowl Thin and Buttery Chocolate Chip Cookies, Pareve Brownies, Mini Cherry Cheesecakes, Microwave Smores and Magic Wands.

The cookies are indexed into categories such as very easy, no-bake, one bowl, vegan, etc so you can decide what to make depending on the day or your mood.  There are also some unusual cookies.  These are great to bring to a party because they can be a good conversion piece. Cookies such as Sweet-and -Salty Corn Chip Candy, Ketchup Cookies and Hard Boiled Egg Chocolate Chip Cookies all have a cool secret ingredient. I have tried making cookies with hard boiled eggs and they let me tell you that they are the bomb.

This book can be purchased at Amazon by clicking HERE.  It is great for gift giving especially if you know a baker or foodie.  I will be using these recipes all year round. As the summer arrives, I will be happy to have a bunch of no-bake cookie recipes from the book.  If you order the book, check out Anna's blog, Cookie Madness while you are waiting for it. Happy cookie baking!

This cookbook looks amazing! I don't think I've made more than 10 kinds of cookies, much less 365! I think I may want to get this just to see what a hard boiled egg cookie looks like. 🙂

Love her blog...and all the desserts. I've cut back on buying cookbooks but I may have to make an exception here. Looks like a great book to have!
