International Waffle Day is March 25th- Celebrate!

Waffles for International Waffle DayTomorrow is International Waffle Day! What does that mean? Well everyone should make sure they eat some waffles. This day started in Sweden and I think we should all celebrate. My son is my number one waffle fan so homemade waffles will be on the menu in our house. He has a soccer game in the morning so going out to brunch will not be happening.  Instead I'll whip up one of the recipes below before he leaves for his game. Or he might just eat a frozen waffle...lol.

If we were going out to breakfast, I'd want these chicken and waffles that I had at The Grand Lux Cafe a few weeks ago. They were so delish. The Grand Lux Cafe serves brunch on both Saturdays and Sundays. The chicken and waffles are one of their most popular brunch items. It is a light fluffy Belgian waffle topped with crispy fried chicken strips and pecans served with a Maple butter sauce. It is so good and a very big portion. I ate half for brunch and happily ate the other half for dinner that night.

    chicken and waffles

I recommend sleeping late then going to get waffles at The Grande Lux Cafe to celebrate this holiday. Maybe get a mimosa? Their coffee is great too.

I know everyone does not have the luxury to sleep late and go out to brunch on a Saturday morning. But you can still make waffles on International Waffle Day or any other morning. Breakfast for dinner is good too! So if you plan on making waffles, here are some great recipes. (Click on the photo to get to the actual recipe.)

Buttermilk Waffles with Warm Spiced Apples

These tender buttermilk waffles are perfect to wake up too. The spiced apples can be made in advance too.

Savory Ham and Cheese Waffles via Souflle Bombay

It you want savory, these are for you. You can use leftover ham and serve them for lunch or dinner!

Crunchy Chicken Stuffed Waffle Pops with Maple Dijon Dip

Here is another savory waffle dish. These chicken stuffed waffle pops are fun. Kids will love them and I love the Maple Dijon sauce. When there is food on a stick, we dip!

Chocolate Crunch Raspberry Waffles via Dizzy Busy and Hungry

These chocolate crunch raspberry waffles are a special treat. I bet your mom would love them on Mother's Day too!

Glazed Strawberry waffles via Food Fanatic

Show someone you love them on waffle day with these strawberry waffles. Or Mother's Day? Or how about Valentine's day? I make these any day!

Maple Bacon Waffle Ice Cream Cake via Dizzy Busy and Hungry

And how about dessert? We need waffles for dessert and this waffle ice cream cake is just the thing. Waffles? Bacon? Maple syrup? Ice cream? Count me in!

Make sure to celebrate International Waffle Day! Or just have waffles anytime! What are your favorite types of waffles?

Thank you to Souffle Bombay, Snappy Gourmet and Dizzy Busy and Hungry for their terrific photos and recipes!

***For full disclosure, I received a complimentary brunch with a guest at The Grand Lux Cafe. As usual, all opinions are my own.

Oh my, I am in heaven here! I absolutely love waffles. We have them way more often for supper than any other time of the day. We aren't big breakfast people, but who can resist having waffles for supper? You've got some really good ones to choose from here too!
