Ingredients

  • 16 ounces frozen green beans
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Chili flakes optional

Instructions

  • Place frozen green beans in a large skillet with a small amount of water. Cover and cook over medium heat until tender. Drain any excess water from the skillet.
  • Add butter and Italian seasoning to the beans. Stir until butter melts and coats evenly. Season with salt and black pepper.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and top with Parmesan and chili flakes if desired.

Notes

  • Frozen green beans work better than fresh here. They soften evenly and soak up the butter.
  • Add the Parmesan off when the pan is off the heat so it melts slightly without clumping.
Variations:
  • Extra cheesy: Add more Parmesan right before serving. No one will complain.
  • Garlic Italian green beans: Add a small pinch of garlic powder with the seasoning.
  • Spicy: Finish with chili flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Lemon twist: A quick squeeze of lemon brightens everything.
