- 3 large onions
- 2 tablespoon cornstarch
- ¼ cup vegetable oil for frying
- salt and pepper, to taste
Peel the onion and cut into small strips. Place the onion in a deep bowl, add starch and stir to mix well.
Heat an inch of oil on medium heat and slowly add the onions in a single layer. Depending on the size of your pan, you will have to cook the onions in batches.
Fry for 5-6 minutes, turning once or until the onions are crispy and golden brown.
Transfer the fried onions to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Repeat with any remaining onions. Season with salt and pepper before serving or using in recipes.
Wearing plastic gloves is a good idea when cooking with onions.
