Crispy Ground Beef Tacos

Crispy beef tacos are packed with savory, seasoned beef and melted cheese for a deliciously crunchy, flavorful twist on traditional tacos.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, peeled finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ cup tomato sauce
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Oil for frying
  • optional toppings like shredded lettuce, diced onion or tomatoes, sour cream, jalapenos, etc

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté for 1-2 minutes until soft.
  • Add ground beef and cook for 5-6 minutes, breaking it apart. Drain or remove any extra grease. Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, chili powder, cumin, and paprika. Stir in tomato sauce and mix well. Simmer for another 2 to 3 minutes. .
  • Place a small amount of beef filling on one half of each tortilla. Sprinkle it with cheddar cheese and fold the tortilla in half.
  • Heat a light coating of oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry each taco for 1-2 minutes per side until crispy and golden. Use more oil as necessary. Tacos can be done indivually or in batches if you have a big pan. Remove and place on paper towels. Top with extra toppings if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

Increase cheese to 1 cup for cheesier tacos.
Serve with optional toppings if desired. Nutritional information is not exact and without toppings.
Taco meat can be made in advance and kept in an air tight container in the refrigerator. It can be reheated for a few minutes in the microwave or frying pan then made into tacos.
