    Two Great Beef Stew Recipes

beef stewsI participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for the Certified Angus Beef® brand. I received product samples to make these beef stew recipes and facilitate my review.

It's been a rough winter this year. I am not sure my children have had a whole school week without a delayed opening or days off due to the weather. We've been getting killed with snow, ice and cold weather. When this happens I like to stay indoors and cook some comfort food. Soups and stews are my favorite picks. There is nothing better than a warm meal on a snowy night.

I was thrilled when I was asked to try two beef stew recipes using the Certified Angus Beef® brand which will be featured on Recipe Rehab. This premium beef brand has been supporting local farmers and ranchers across the country for over 35 years. This beef is a cut above USDA Prime, Choice and Select grade and has met 10 additional standards for premium quality, including abundant marbling. It is an exceptional beef to be included in a healthy, balanced diet. While I love cooking comfort food for my family, I also want to make sure it is healthy.

The two recipes I made are Beef Stew with Barley and Hearty Beef Stew. Both these recipes will be featured on Recipe Rehab on Saturday, February 15th. I was sent two kits with recipe cards and beef for both.  All I had to do was look at the meat to see what high quality it was. The beef needed in both recipes is sirloin tips which is a very lean cut of meat.  Both recipes contained several veggies and were filled with healthy ingredients. These are definitely my kind of recipes.

I loved both stews but after consulting with my family, we agreed that the Beef Stew with Barley was number one in our book. I would definitely make both again with the Certified Angus Beef® brand but we loved the texture that the barley, mushrooms and spinach gave the one stew. It was very hearty and filling on a cold night.

Here is a photo of the Hearty Beef Stew  also.  I loved that it is served over cauliflower. All the veggies and white wine gave the dish lots of flavor.

Watch Recipe Rehab on CBS on February 15th to see what recipe they pick as the winner. Check your local listings for exact times in your area. I will be watching and cheering on the Beef Stew with Barley recipe.

Which do you think would be your family's favorite?

They both look so good--I have probably made more soup and stew this winter than I ever have. Ready for spring.

My vote is for the beef stew with barley. Beef and barley soup in in my top 10 favorites.
