If you need a quick and easy New Year's party appetizer, you have come to the right place. A few weeks ago, I was sent a nice package from Nasoya. Nasoya makes various products including tofu, Asian style noodles and wraps, and a soy based sandwich spread. The first thing I decided to try was the Nasoya wonton wrappers. You can find them in the refrigerated produce section of your grocery store.
These wraps are very handy when making cute little appetizers. Within half an hour, my crab appetizers were made. I whipped up a quick dipping sauce with apricot preserves, soy sauce and rice wine vinegar. I think any soy based dipping sauce would go good or you can serve them without a sauce. The wonton filling possibilities are endless. Next time I think I will try buffalo chicken cups or maybe pepperoni pizza cups. Or how about hot chicken salad cups? Okay, you get the picture. These were perfect timing with the holidays right around the corner and football season still in full swing . For more recipes and ideas, click HERE. The Nasoya website has plenty to choose from.
24 Nasoya wonton wrappers
Cooking spray
½ cup finely chopped onion
1 ½ cups lump crab meat
1 cup frozen spinach
½ teaspoon garlic powder
dash of cayenne pepper
2 ounces cream cheese
¾ shredded pepper jack cheese
Press wonton wrappers into miniature muffin cups (24 pan) coated with cooking spray. Spritz wrappers with cooking spray. Preheat oven to 375°. In a large frying pan, heat olive oil and saute onion on medium heat until translucent. Add crab meat, spinach, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and cream cheese to the pan. Cook on low heat while stirring until mixture is heated and gets creamy. Turn off heat and stir in pepper jack cheese. Fill each cup with some of the mixture so it is all used up. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes or until wontons are crispy and filling is bubbling. Cool for a few minutes before serving. These can also be served at room temperature.
***Disclosure : Nasoya sent me a free gift pack of products to try. The opinions of the product are my own and I did not receive monetary compensation to write this post.
