Atlantic City Restaurant Week Preview 2017

the entrance at Atlantic City Restaurant Week eventLast week I was invited to attend A Taste of Atlantic City preview party for Atlantic City Restaurant week. I have been to past events and they are always wonderful. This was sponsored by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and I tasted different dishes from over twelve Atlantic City restaurants. Not only did this event help out the Academy of Culinary Arts at ACCC School Student Scholarships and CRDA Foundation but it was one yummy evening for everyone!

My husband was my plus one and a very happy guy. Come on, what man doesn't want to be taken out by his wife on a foodie date?

the beautiful setting at Atlantic City restaurant week previewSo let's get to all the details. As you can see, the room and setting was gorgeous. It was held at the beautiful Borgata event center. Everything was perfect about the Atlantic City Restaurant week preview including the band, the fresh flowers on the tables, the cocktails and of course the food.

While I have to say there was nothing we didn't enjoy, we did have many favorites. My husband loved the Mini Beef Wellington from Gordon Ramsay Pub at Caesars.

a tasting of mini beef Wellington at Atlantic City restaurant week previewThis Spicy Butternut Squash Soup was so delicious. It was made by The Atlantic Cape Community Academy of Culinary Arts and garnished with a Sriracha spiced granola and herbed goat cheese. I think I could have had three cups but I had to save room for all the other delicious food.

The Borgata made their own special dish. It was a surf and turf plate with Japanese pear kimchi. Everything about this was unique and the scallops were just perfectly cooked.

I am a big seafood fan so I was happy to try this Ecuadorian Cerviche from the Tropicana. It was a light dish of shrimp with a lime vinaigrette and served with plantain chips.

The cavatelli Bolognese was so good that I think my husband went and had three plates while I wasn't looking. Unfortunately it was so good that I forgot to get photos of it. It was gone before I could even snap my camera. We will definitely be going back to Il Verdi in the Tropicana for a few more plates.

Restaurant week starts this Sunday, March 5th and goes through Friday, March 10th. Over 70 restaurants will be participating. These restaurants offer a fixed price three course dinner for $35.17  per person (not including taxes, beverages or gratuity). Many will also be having a three course lunch for $15.17 also.

Most places take reservations so hurry up and make yours. You won't want to miss out on a great culinary experience. This takes place every year so why don't you check it out sometime?

**For full disclosure, I was given two free tickets to this event. As usual, all opinions are my own.
