Pies, Pies and More Pie!

Pie Party 2015Last weekend I attended a pie party. Come on, you know you’re jealous!

Who wouldn’t want to travel to New York City, wear stretchy pants and gather with a group of fabulous food bloggers and writers to eat pie? These were homemade pies by the food writers and bloggers. Let me also mention that this event  had a bar with great cocktails. Now you are really jealous, right?

Ok, so if you want to be invited to the next event, sign up for Jackie Gordon’s newsletter. She is the Singing Chef and co- creator of this wonderful pie event along with Ken Leung. Ken writes the blog Hungry Rabbit NYC .  The two of them paired together to organize this event which I look forward to every year. This year I took my teenage daughter as my guest and we had a great time. First up was showing off our Pumpkin Spice Whoopie Pies with Salted Caramel Latte Cream. I promise I will get the recipe to you in another post.

The event was held and hosted by the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) at their brand new facility. It was a gorgeous space overlooking the Hudson River. They gave us a great tour of their school and kitchens.

I have to confess that I really felt a little oinky after the event. But the pies were so delicious and I had to try numerous pies. This is only one of the pies that Jackie Gordon made. It was one spectacular looking pie!

I especially enjoyed the Carribbean Cattletail Pie that Margaret made.

Of course, who can resist  Grape Pie made by Sunny . I am not sure what was better…the smell of the fragrant Concord grapes or taking a bite out of this flaky pie.

Lisa From Panning The Globe made a delicious Cauliflower Gruyere Pie with Potato Crust and Bacon – Parmigiana Crumb Topping.

It was heaven on a plate! I also tried Mango Mousse Pie made by Leaf and Lemon. I could have ate half that pie myself.

And Ken made a chocolate hazelnut pie that was to die for.  Ohhhh, so many pies but only so much room in one person’s tummy.

Oh I am definitely jealous! This sounds like so much fun!!!! I can’t imagine anyone not having a blast!

Hi Lisa, great recap. I loved reliving the event through your post. And thanks so much for the shout out about my cauliflower pie 🙂 I’m eagerly awaiting your recipe for the pumpkin spice whoopie pies!!
