Sweet Sriracha Almonds #SundaySupper

This weekend I am happy to say that I have been enjoying some time in Orlando. I’m at the Food and Wine Conference by Sunday Supper. Tonight we will have a live twitter chat from Tapa Toro so our #SundaySupper theme this week is small bites. I am excited to eat at this fabulous restaurant again. They have wonderful tapas and an awesome paella pit. Check out my Instagram and Twitter pages starting tonight at 6pm ETA for some mouthwatering photos.  Here are some of the things I enjoyed at the restaurant last year.

I love appetizers and snacks. Some of the best Sunday afternoon dinners I make in the summer consist of several small plates such as antipasto, shrimp, and tortellini skewers. To me, appetizers are also the perfect party food. Since I get weak in the knees for anything sweet and spicy, I decided to make these roasted almonds.  Sweet Sriracha Almonds are something you will want to serve at your next gathering. They are sweet, spicy and pair well with cheese. They are fairly easy to make and you can store them in plastic containers to have snacks for the week or serve them at your next gathering. I love them on an antipasto board too.

Sweet Sriracha Almonds

Serves: Make about 4 cups
These almonds are great as a snack or on a cheeseboard for your next party!
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Sriracha sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 16 ounces raw almonds
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 Tablespoons fine granulated white sugar
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium size bowl, whisk together honey, Sriracha sauce, black pepper, brown sugar, and melted butter. Mix in almonds and toss until they are coated evenly.
  3. Spread the almonds evenly on the baking sheet and sprinkle with salt. Bake for 10 minutes. Give the almonds a good stir and bake for 5 to 10 more minutes or until almonds are crisp. Be sure not to let them get too overdone.
  4. Cool for 10 minutes then break them up and sprinkle with sugar. Store in an airtight container.

I love this- my guests always love nuts and low-carb choices to have out and these are so full of flavor- I will make these for sure!

I’m excited about this recipe. Sugared and spiced nuts are one of my favorite easy apps for entertaining, so I’m always looking for new recipes. Definitely making this one soon!
