At other times, I had a note on my three jars of chocolate that said “Stay away. Mom needs this for her food blog.” And then I snuck a few spoons while the kiddos were sleeping.
If you remember, these chocolate spreads come in three flavors : regular chocolate, chocolate with almond, and chocolate with hazelnut. I’ve paired them with a bunch of snacks, made chocolate hazelnut ricotta pillows and salted chocolate almond crispy treats. Now it’s time to pair them with fruit.
They were quite perfect on strawberries and bananas but my favorite was dipping a clementine section in the chocolate spread.
I have always had a thing for orange with chocolate. It’s been much longer than I’ve had a thing for my husband and even way before I had a thing for Shaun Cassidy. This orange chocolate obsession goes back to when I was a young kid and I remember eating orange jelly sticks coated in chocolate. But the clementines were much better than any orange chocolate candy I’ve ever had. The little baby orange segments just burst with juiciness and then I had a taste of the bittersweet chocolate. Pure bliss!
While looking at my fresh plate of fruit, another idea crept into my head. How about adding some of this chocolate to a fruit smoothie? I did and it was the bomb. Try adding some to your favorite strawberry banana smoothie and you will love it. My kids are now begging for smoothies every morning.
