It seems like everyone has a juicer lately. Everywhere I look I find recipes for smoothies and health drinks. I like having a smoothie in the morning but I am not one of those people that drink my meals. I am not ready to go out and buy my own juicer as my blender and food processor works perfectly fine for now. A while back I was watching the Chew and saw this grapefruit cleanse drink that Daphne Oz was drinking after the new year.
I have heard that grapefruit, ginger and carrots have marvelous health benefits. So I thought, why not try it? I have also heard that grapefruit can help you to lose weight. Maybe this is a an old wives tale, maybe not, but I am willing to try eating some to see cellulite magically disappear from my body. After I saw this drink on the show, I created my own adapting it slightly to my own taste.
If you like grapefruits, carrots and ginger, this drink is for you. It has a slightly pungent taste but I like a refreshing drink with bitter overtones. I have been drinking this at breakfast several times a week. Now I am just waiting for the pounds to slide off.
- 1 grapefruit, peeled and chopped
- 2 carrots, peeled and shredded
- one half inch piece of ginger, chopped
- Put all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. A little water can be added while blending if mixture is too thick.

I usually get into smoothie “moods” and that’s the only time I want them – and it’s usually in the summer when it’s hot and the idea of chewing my breakfast seems all too difficult.
I was seriously just thinking today that I needed to try a smoothie with grapefruit in it because I have so many in my fridge right now. I need to try this one – I think it sounds great!!
