When Life Gives You Snow Make Ice Cream!

by jerseygirl on February 13, 2010 · 12 comments

This past week, we were covered with over 3 feet of snow. Almost everything was shut down for the snow days. The grocery store even closed on Wednesday! What were we to do? Watch movies and cook and bake frantically. We were out of ice cream but made our own. The recipe is really simple. Take 8 to 9 cups of snow (make sure it’s the clean kind) and mix it with one can of sweetened condensed milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix really well and freeze for an hour or two. Then grab a spoon and go to town!
There is plenty of more snow on the ground. My kids want me to buy a whole case of condensed milk! And here is the happy girl with the ice cream!

How fun! I haven't made snow ice cream since I was a kid.

3 feet of snow is alot of snow. The most I've had on my back deck here in Denver was 39 inches. Love those big snows and I love being snowed in. Enjoy it.

This is a great idea. My kids would be so excited if on a snow day we could have ice cream as well.

I remember my Mom making that for us years ago.

1 case by how many calories? Yikes!

I didn't think about making snow cream when we had our snowstorm (okay, 4 inches). Now there won't be snow again for another ten years. Darn.

Aww I was just thinking last weekend when it snowed how we should make snow cream – I haven't done it since I was probably 12. How fun!

I remember making snow ice cream when I was young…I thought it was so amazing, but then again I can count the number of times it has snowed in Alabama on my hands.

Nothing like snow ice cream when you are snowed in.
