My favorite holiday food would have to be my grandmothers fruit salad. I have memories of being very young and making it with her in the kitchen, I recall getting my hand smacked a few times for stealing some of the fruit out of the colander. I still make her salad every year, of course it’s just not the same but it makes me think of her every time I steal some fruit while it drains.

Congratulations on 100 posts!

My favorite holiday food? Well, that has to be the phyllo wrapped stuffed chicken that we have every Rosh Hashanah. The stuffing inside keeps the chicken moist, and the phyllo adds this crispy, flakey texture that just works so perfectly. We would revolt if my mother-in-law ever stopped making it!

Lucy November 3, 2008 at 11:35 pm

In our family it’s all about traditions, each holiday having their food specialities and many are reserved for the holiday at hand only, so it’s very difficult for me to chose.

For insistence, my son can instantly inhale an Easter Bread. Several years ago he was complaining as to why I only make at Easter. I simply told him that if I were to make whenever he wanted, it would no longer be special. However, he does start asking for it 2 weeks ahead and I give in… but then he must wait a year before I’ll make it again.
