I am back from the Oyster Cook off and ready to start my week. I didn’t win but it was a great time. I had fun meeting some new friends and seeing some old ones. The cook off organizers really know how to make the contestants comfortable. They hosted a nice reception the night before the cook off and a great dinner after the cook off. Brendan Cahill was the grand prize winner with his dish, Oyster En Brochette with Remoulade Sauce. I didn’t get to taste it but heard it was fabulous.
The festival also had some great food. Here is something I ate……..
Doesn’t that look good? It is a crab stuffed pretzel. I had to get something with crab when visiting Maryland, right? I have never seen these before. It was a soft pretzel stuffed with a creamy crab mixture topped with a generous portion of melted cheddar cheese. Very tasty!
On our way home, I was able to do something very exciting. I went to Super Walmart. Believe it or not, I have never been to one. (You are probably laughing at me!) They only have regular Walmarts near my house. I was able to buy lots of baking products that are not sold in the grocery stores near my house.
Now on to the PA Renaissance Faire that I went to last week. This was a great day also. The weather was perfect and there was so much to do at the fair. The children loved it and they had some great fare food. Check out this giant turkey leg.
Everyone was walking around with them so we had to have one. They were so good that I might make them this week. Here is a picture of my daughter and her friend with their snack.
It is now time for me to get organized from being away and catch up on my blog reading. The weather is very chilly and I think I need to make some soups in the next few weeks. But my next thing up will be a fabulous fall cake.
