BOO to you and a little treat

We were booed! Have you been booed before? One of the best parts of the Halloween season is the booing that goes around our neighborhood. This is a yearly tradition that my children look forward to.

After dark, a neighbor will knock on someones door, leave a little package and run. The idea is to run fast enough so that you don’t get caught. Once someone leaves a package on your door, it is your turn to be the booer. There is a poem that goes with the packages. They usually consist of treats such as candy. My kids love to leave these little packages but not get caught. We sometimes hide behind bushes or trees to see the person open their door.

Try some booing in your neighborhood. There are plenty of poems on the internet or I would be happy to send you one. Just send me a quick email. It is lots of fun and you will also get a nice little jogging work out in. My kids love the candy they get but also love to give it out too.

I will leave you with a little Halloween treat. I made this RIP tombstone in a minute. Just take some white icing and fill a snack baggie. Cut the tip and write the letters on a choclate graham cracker. We placed the tombstone on a cupcake. Isn’t it cute? Now it is time to go watch game 4 of the world series. Hopefully I will be making some of these for the Tampa Bay Rays.

When I was in my local MOMS Club we used to boo all of the members. I really need to start this with our neighbors since we have so many kids around here.

Boo’ing is so much fun! We did it last year, but my son is not into it this year…I’m so sad!

Emily October 26, 2008 at 10:50 pm

I love being booed! We always do this in our neighborhood each year! Love it! Love it!

Katrina October 27, 2008 at 12:06 am

Our neighborhood “boos”, too. The kids love it. Although, we haven’t been booed yet and most everyone else has, guess we should just pick someone and boo them!
Cute cupcake.

This sounds much better than having your house rolled with toilet paper, which is what everyone does here this time of the year.

Debbie October 27, 2008 at 7:04 am

Have never heard of being booed but it sounds like so much fun. Love the cupcake!

Clumbsy Cookie October 27, 2008 at 8:27 am

Prudy October 27, 2008 at 8:39 am

We’ve been booed twice this year because we didn’t put our sign up! Yikes. I haven’t even done my drop off yet, we are such slackers!

Katherine Aucoin October 27, 2008 at 8:57 am

What a cute idea. There are quite a few young children in our neighborhood, I think I will ask my girls to start this.

Mary October 27, 2008 at 9:00 am

We just got booed. Our new neighborhood is great and everyone has been so friendly since we got our new house! They like to do fun things like this. I still need to pass on my boo! Your treats are so fun!!

biz319 October 27, 2008 at 12:49 pm

Ha! We had the same thing happen to us last Christmas, although it was with marshmallows and cocoa – but we had no idea what to do!

After a couple days, my neighbor finally explained it to us!

Veronica October 27, 2008 at 12:53 pm

What a fun and clever idea. I never heard of that before. I wish someone had thought about that when I was a kid!!!

Tracy October 27, 2008 at 7:46 pm

We’ve been boo’d in the past … hasn’t happened yet. I think my kids like passing on the boo bags even more than getting them!
