Is that a dancing chicken?

Yep, it does look like the chicken is dancing. I think it had a little too much beer but it is standing up straight. I’m not sure it would pass the breathalyzer. What do you think? You have to love beer can chicken.

My hubby decided to make some the other night and I was thrilled. I was also dancing with the chicken. He did not take a shortcut and also smoked it. Since he has had a smoker, he has become quite the expert. The instructions for this type of chicken is here. You could also grill it without the smoke flavor. Click here if you prefer this method. It takes longer than the typical dinner but is well worth the time. Especially if you’re sitting outside on a cool night with a cocktail.

For sides, we had corn on the cob and this great tomato salad. I am loving all this fresh summer herbs and produce. The two colors of basil makes it look so appetizing.

Beautiful Basil and Blue Cheese Tomato Salad

2 medium sized vine-ripe tomatoes, sliced 1/4 inch thick
salt and pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
3 TBS crumbled blue cheese
a handful of purple and Italian basil, chopped
extra virgin olive oil
balsamic vinegar

Place slices of tomatoes on a platter. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle the garlic powder, blue cheese and basil on the tomatoes. Drizzle the salad with the oil and vinegar. Enjoy!

We use a can of beans in the same technique, its such a good way to good a good juicy chicken. We’re certainly luckily our husbands are masters of the grill 😉

So cute. Great song to go along with it! I have never made beer can chicken but have always wanted to try. The only thing is, I don’t drink much beer so I would have to bum a can off someone who does…LOL

I’ve been seeing that beer can chicken around and it allways makes me smile. The poor thing there standing up with the head cut off. Shame… But it looks great, perfect browned color! Your right the salad is just beautiful!

Beer Butt Chicken is something that’s been on my list to do for ages. I just think my husband has a problem with the line in the recipe that goes “discard beer”….
